Tea for Two and an incredible opportunity for you!
Starting with a virtual "tea for two" – complete with a proper brew served in my Nan's bone china tea set – I recently had the absolute joy of connecting with Robert May via LinkedIn.
What began as a casual back-and-forth in the comments of someone else's post about how to brew the perfect cup of tea, quickly evolved into a deep, inspiring conversation about the future of web accessibility, search, and human connection.
A Human Connection
Recognizing a synergy in our work, Robert invited me to a live Zoom demo of what he has been building.
Coming from a background in web accessibility and organic search, I have spent years helping clients maximize their digital presence. Traditionally, accessibility tools like alt text and title tags serve as concise, verbal descriptors for visual content. While originally meant for screen readers, they also feed the bots and machines crawling the web. But there has always been a delicate balance between optimizing for the algorithm and writing for the human reader.
What Robert has created takes this concept to a whole new depth!
Sorry, what was that now?
He has built a framework – a 'canonical infrastructure' – that stores what he terms a "branded truth." Instead of squeezing a description into a single field of alt text, his system allows a business to house comprehensive, 38-page structured data sets (pure JSON code) detailing their backstory, values, ethics, and service or product detail all in natural human language.
This infrastructure links legitimately back to a company’s primary website, allowing conversational AI search models to match a user's natural language queries with absolute precision; without hallucinations or noise. If you know your ideal customers language you can speak directly to them in detail that is unrivalled at present.
During our demo, Robert showed me a three-field clean search in action. When testing a query for a specific brand item, the results returned were entirely pure, accurate, and completely free of digital clutter. It was a revelation. In a landscape dominated by pay-to-play platforms like Rightmove or ad-heavy search engines, Robert’s system restores integrity to how information is retrieved. It doesn't replace the human element or the need for a visually engaging website; rather, it bridges the gap.
Where do we fit in?
My contribution to this mission is taking that pure, underlying JSON code and styling it visually; using headings, clear structure, and rich imagery – to present a beautiful, accessible front-end experience that the human eye can absorb.
Beyond the technology, what stood out most was Robert himself. Driven by an unwavering moral compass and a genuine desire to protect his team and support honest business owners, he is building technology designed to serve people, not fleece them. He acts as a true quartermaster, providing the underlying data foundation so that businesses can communicate authentically.
I left our conversation thoroughly energized. By combining Robert’s canonical infrastructure with accessible, human-centered design, we have an incredible opportunity to make the web clearer, cleaner, and fairer for everyone.
A Breath of Fresh Air
Thank you, Robert, for a fantastic chat, a brilliant demonstration, and a shared vision for a better internet one website at a time. I am incredibly excited to work together and translate his message into visual communication.
