Sometimes, an opportunity comes along that you just have to grab! It's scary and exciting, but if pondered too long, it's gone... I am pleased to say that I have grabbed this one with both hands and am delighted to share news of my collaboration with @Jay-anne Dingwall, @Emily Cantrill, and @Leanda Daddow in our newly founded company – Life Is Too Short Limited.

When I met Jay, I had wills and lasting powers of attorney on my to-do list, where they had been for years. There was no hurry to tick them off because I knew 'I had plenty of time to sort them out'. 

It was when my best friend's sister died so suddenly that I woke up. I saw, with clarity, that I either do it now or never do it. One day could be a day too late. 

Once I set the wheels in motion, it was far easier than I had imagined. Jay explained everything in such simple terms that I understood it all, and even the more complex details soon melted into "Aaahs!" of understanding. 

The thing that shocked me and alarmed me to my very core was about the future of my children should my husband and I both die ('Armageddon' as Jay explained it). 

I had always assumed that because my Mum, Dad and Sister have played such a huge role in my children's lives, they would automatically decide between them some kind of shared parenting arrangement, and my girls would have all the love and support they would need through such an upsetting and disturbing wrench in their lives.

The gruesome reality is, in fact, that unless you specify, in a legal document (a will) who you want to look after (be legal guardian of) your children, they will be whisked away into care, with complete strangers, until the authorities decide who best should look after them. That could be days! 

🤯 It's a horrid thought BUT it is true. 

That one piece of information not only propelled me to get our wills finalised as soon as physically possible, but it is also the strongest motivator for me to share the importance of writing a will as loud and far as I physically can with as many people as possible. 

That is the opportunity I am grabbing – to do my best to help others realise the importance of making your voice heard beyond your heartbeat. 

We four are passionatley motivated to: 

- Educate everybody in the law of the land that silences your voice unless you verbalise it in a legally binding document. 

- To take away the fear of what happens when you die and what will happen to your loved ones. 

- To break down the barriers of procrastination and family complexitys.

- To remove the discomfort around mortality and talk more openly about planning for your death and protecting your voice in legacy.

- To alleviate concerns about perceived cost of using a professional to draft your will.

AND

-To enable a career path for self motivated beginners who align with our why, to train and work with us to mobilise our mission accross the land.

We want everybody to be able to live their lives in full by giving them peace of mind that their loved ones will be looked after when they are gone. Once your voice is protected, you can free your mind and get to living!

It's such a good feeling – knowing that it's off my to-do list and my life is mine to live.

After all... Life is too short!
